Yaa’s Diary: Getting Back on Your Feet Matters

There are times in life when things do not go the way we plan. At times we are very positive about the outcome of our endeavours and we just cannot wait till we see them become realities… but what happens when the unexpected begins to unfold? What do we do when our plans are thwarted before our own eyes? Do we look up in despair and begin to curse the day we were born? Or we start shifting blames – blames that seek to take us out of the cause equation and make us feel better without solving the actual problem. Or better still do we feel tired about the hullabaloo around and simply give up?

It is no easy thing to look around and see things go the way they should not and all you do is whisper to yourself, “it is all good”, or “it is well”, “things will turn around for me.” You would want to question the existence of God and whether He has you fitted somewhere in his plans at all; if He cares at all.

The funny thing is that no matter our reactions, He remains God. Our unbelief and faithless attitude does not change Him…and guess what? Our anger and the “I give up” attitude does not change our problems either. We just press the pause button…to be continued on a later date.

In times like this when we cannot help ourselves, is it difficult trusting the one who says He can and will help us? Hebrews 13:6 tells us that He will never leave us nor forsake us, and Isaiah 55:11 says He sends forth His word and it will accomplish whatever purpose for which it was sent. It is really up to us to believe what His word says about our situations. It is not enough to know that God has plans for us neither is it enough to listen to all those encouraging words from those who care and are always trying to share in our pain. We need to come to the realization that we have to make an effort to get back unto our feet- by ourselves. We have cried enough, we have shifted enough blames, and we have told our stories to others time without number and we have pitied yourselves, well…for your information, others pity us too. We are not the first people to want to give up and we definitely will not be the last. But is it worth it?

It is time we took God by His words and moved on. When we fall in this race of life, no one stops theirs completely to shed tears with us, people even move faster because the truth at times is that, their races become less arduous the moment we fail to get back on our feet. Do not leave your life to chance, it is yours to live. You have a shot at everything and it is only you who can determine when it is over. It is never too late to start all over. Put on a smile today and make the world know you are just getting started.
