Kumawood actress and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Shakira Movie Production, Tracy Boakye has revealed that she donated GHC 200,000 to support Former President Mahama’s bid to become the flagbearer of the NDC once again.
“We are coming 2020, We are at the flagstaff House. We are in the comfortable lead. There will be peace in NDC by end of January,” she said.
The actress-cum TV presenter in an interview with Accra FM’s Mid-morning host, Nana Romeo Welewele monitored by GhanaNewsPage.com said, “I’ve paid Ghc2000 to support John Mahama. I paid it through the shotcode on social media”.
As part of the love for John Mahama, over 291 including former Ministers and MPs under John Mahama’s administration are paying Ghc1000 to support his bid.
Furthermore, a group of spare parts dealers at Abossey Okai has also pledged to pay half of the amount for Mr Mahama.
The NDC at its National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting on Thursday, 29 November at the party’s headquarters in Accra, resolved that all male flag bearer aspirants are expected to pay GHS400,000 as filing fee while female flag bearer aspirants are to pay GHS200,000 and persons with disability aspiring to the same position are to pay GHS150,000.
Critics, including some of the flag bearer aspirants, have slammed the “exorbitant” filing fee.
